What is Music Therapy?!


Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program.

To strengthen the self-confidence of the individual by

  • Helping him discover his unexplored abilities
  • Developing his personality in all its aspects
  • Releasing him from restrictions that prevent him from developing
  • Helping him to widen the communication bridges with others
  • Pushing him to express himself without censorship, by various means of sensory and artistic expression, whether by singing or playing an instrument or even by dancing, theater, photography or drawing. Without imposing constraints in the development and form of communication.

DEFINITION

Music therapy is a therapy that seeks to use the properties of music and sound as a medium to restore, maintain or improve a person’s social, mental and physical abilities. It is part of the musical meditation therapies (via various musical experiences such as improvisation, singing, listening, etc.) but differs from certain techniques known as “psychomusical” techniques, which are rather in the domain of relaxation.
Music therapy is commonly used in the treatment of patients of all ages and for various disorders: ASD, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Psychiatric Disorders, Physical Disability, Sensory Impairment, Intellectual Disability, Addiction, Communication Disorders, Stress, Anxiety, ADHD, Difficulties learning…

Who are we?

The “Insieme” Center is under the supervision and direction of Fr. Maroun Harb (Lebanese missionary) who is the representative of the Euterpe Beyond Language Method (Sound in Multisensory Stimulation) in the Middle East.
